Priorities for District 43

Partner with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and local agencies to recruit employers to District 43 — leveraging Kentucky's existing business incentive programs, tax credits, and enterprise zone designations to bring quality jobs and investment directly into our neighborhoods.

Families deserve due process and dignity. Lisa will introduce legislation to establish clear, accountable Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services protocols governing the removal of children from their birth parents — ensuring decisions are evidence-based, transparent, and subject to proper oversight. She will also partner with the Louisville Metro Police Department and Kentucky State Police to build community initiatives that identify and reduce false reporting, protecting innocent families from unnecessary intervention while keeping truly at-risk children safe.

Lisa has been a tireless advocate for seniors and the disability community — fighting for full ADA compliance, accessible transportation, and barrier-free entry to public buildings and facilities. In Frankfort, she will push to strengthen Kentucky's enforcement of accessibility standards, expand TARC transit options for riders with disabilities, and ensure every public building in District 43 meets federal and state access requirements so every person can move freely and participate fully in public life.

Education should never be a barrier to success. Lisa will work within the Kentucky General Assembly to ensure every student in District 43 has access to a quality, focused learning environment —  and protecting educators from at-risk situations so they can teach without fear and students can learn without disruption.

Direct Kentucky Community Development Block Grant dollars and state economic development funds to long-neglected corridors in District 43 — working with Louisville Forward and the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority to turn vacant lots into opportunity and blighted blocks into thriving commercial zones.

Champion clean air, clean water, and green spaces for District 43 — holding polluters accountable through the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet and supporting sustainable development. Lisa will also fight for safer, cleaner public transit by working with TARC and Louisville Metro to ensure drivers and passengers are not exposed to drug smoke and residue on buses, protecting our community's environment for future generations.

Champion Kentucky legislation that elevates fathers as essential pillars of the household and the workforce — supporting responsible fatherhood programs through the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services, advocating for fair family court practices in Jefferson County, creating job pathways for fathers re-entering the workforce, and building community initiatives that keep families strong and together.

Protect and expand Kentucky Medicaid (Healthy Kentucky) coverage, fight for automatic renewals for residents with disabilities so no one loses care due to paperwork, and push for quality healthcare options in every corner of District 43 — including expanding access to Kentucky's federally qualified health centers and community mental health clinics.

Forge strategic alliances between the Kentucky General Assembly, University of Louisville, Jefferson Community and Technical College, and the private sector to fund infrastructure, innovation hubs, and job-creation initiatives that directly benefit District 43 residents.

Advocate for policies that increase wages, reduce the cost of living, and ensure that working families who are fiscally responsible can build real financial security — and expand access to the Kentucky Earned Income Tax Credit for low- and middle-income households.

Cut red tape, expand access to Kentucky Small Business Development Center loans and grants, and create a mentorship pipeline through the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development so local entrepreneurs can start, grow, and stay in our community.

Invest in Kentucky Skills Network job-training programs, registered apprenticeships, and Jefferson Community and Technical College partnerships that equip District 43 residents with the in-demand skills employers are hiring for today — connecting workers to careers in healthcare, manufacturing, technology, and the trades.
